Allulose: Nature's Sweet Ozempic

Ozempic causes easy weight loss for those who take it, so what does Ozempic do?

Ozempic is a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar by helping the pancreas make more insulin. It makes you feel full by triggering GLP-1 secretion. GLP-1 is secreted naturally when we eat food and stimulates the GLP-1 receptors found in the brain, making us feel satiated and full.

Guess what? The zero-calorie sugar allulose does the same thing! Let’s cover some highlights in research and dosage.

Research Highlights

  1. Fat Reduction

    • A dose of 7g 2x per day of D-allulose over 12 weeks reduced both the total abdominal fat area and subcutaneous fat area compared to a control (Han et al., 2018).

  2. Blood Sugar Management

    • Allulose reduces blood sugar spikes when eaten with a carbohydrate-rich meal, making it a valuable tool for blood glucose management (Yuma et al., 2023).

    • Increases body’s ability to absorb glucose (increase insulin sensitivity) and store it as glycogen.

  3. Appetite Control

    • Allulose stimulates GLP-1, enhancing glucose regulation and appetite control, suggesting that allulose can influence the satiety cascade and reduce overall caloric intake.

  4. Liver Health

    • Allulose prevents liver triglyceride accumulation, reducing the risk of fatty liver.

  5. Metabolic Health

    • Allulose supplementation of 5-10g daily is a promising dietary intervention to improve metabolic health markers and manage or prevent obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes.

How to Use Allulose

Simply add a heaped teaspoon or 5-10g to your morning coffee or a main meal. It’s a great additive to carb-rich meals like smoothie bowls, as it can lower the glucose spike from blended fruit.

Allulose has a lingering effect when taken daily for weeks, with GLP-1 increasing over a 12 week period, so take it as a daily supplement, have a look at the graph below with the F image shows GLP-1 increases over 12 weeks.

Incorporating allulose into your diet is a simple and effective way to improve metabolic health, lower body fat and visceral fat, and manage hunger symptoms while enjoying its zero-calorie sweetness!
